Wisconsin crime victims have rights, and help is available to make sure those rights are protected. Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen said that sometimes victims of crime don't want to be in the spotlight, but they still need to be helped through the process. Since 1993, state law has required that local district attorneys reach out to the victims of crime. There are victims' rights advocates in 71 of Wisconsin's 72 counties. A ceremony at the Capitol marked National Crime Victims' Rights Week.
