The state hopes to make millionaires out of some Wisconsin women.
Many women entrepreneurs in the Badger State are saying, " Make Mine a Million Dollar Business ." That's the name of a national initiative that aims to provide a million women with mentoring, money, marketing resources and the technology assistance they need to cross the million-dollar threshold.
Communications Officer Tony Hozeny with the state Commerce Department says it's Wisconsin's first time taking part in the program. It's important to economic development in the state.
Hozeny says 15 women business owners will make their case as to why they deserve to get the extra help from the state to move their business forward, to that next level.
Keynote Speakers at the Madison Concourse Hotel include Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton and Nell Merlino, founder and president of "Take Your Daughter to Work Day."
The first state-based Make Mine a Million Dollar Business program takes place on Monday at the Madison Concourse Hotel from 9AM – 5PM.
