A lot of Wisconsin motorists have been caught unbuckled. Over 10,000 citations were issued in the state during the recent two week "Click It or Ticket" campaign to encourage people to wear their seatbelts.
Don Hagen of the State Patrol is hoping the high number of fines will get more people to comply with seatbelt laws. Hagen says current compliance in Wisconsin is only at about 75-percent, well below the national average of 82-percent.
The fine for not wearing a seatbelt is $10.
