A month later, police quiet on Nolan murder

It's been a month since the body of 22-year-old Kelly Nolan was found in a wooded area outside of Madison. Police say the death of the UW student was a homicide, but Madison public information officer Joel DeSpain isn't saying much about a suspect. However, he says police believe any potential suspect is still in Wisconsin.

Police are also still waiting for evidence to be processed at a state crime lab. However, DeSpain is not commenting on what they're looking for.

There's currently a $10,000 reward for information leading to Nolan's killer. DeSpain says that reward could be increase in the near future.

Bridge collapse scam alert

When tragedy strikes, scams aren't far behind. It seems difficult to believe that some people will take advantage of a tragedy like the one in the Twin Cities last week. But, Glen Loyd with Wisconsin Consumer Protection says don't be surprised, if you're contacted on behalf of the victims of the Minnesota bridge collapse. Those solicitations can come in the form of phone calls or emails asking you to send cash or even your credit card information. If you really want to help the victims in the Twin Cities, Loyd suggests contacting the local office of groups like the Red Cross or Salvation Army, to find out what's needed, and where your dollars can do the most good.

Survivor of bridge collapse arrested

A strange twist to a survivor's story. Crystal Manning and her fiancee, Michael Stoner, survived last week's collapse of a freeway bridge in the Twin Cities. The rural Spooner couple were on the way to visit Manning's 2 year old daughter Emmalene, who'd suffered a concussion after allegedly falling done some stairs. Their vehicle was one of dozens on the 35-W bridge at the time of the collapse during evening rush hour last Wednesday, and they ended up in the Mississippi River after escaping through the driver's side window. Now the Washburn County Sheriff's Department has arrested the 26 year old Stoner, alleging that he's responsible for the little girl's injuries. Sheriff Terry Dryden says Manning faces a charge of Felony Child Abuse. Emmaline Manning remains hospitalized. Stoner and Crystal Manning suffered only minor injuries in the bridge collapse and were released from the hospital last week.

Brewers lose, now must hit the road

The Milwaukee Brewers suffered a difficult loss Sunday at Miller Park when the Philadelphia Phillies scored 5-runs in the 9th to tie the game at 6 and then former Brewer Wes Helms doubled home two in the 11th to win it for the Phillies.

The Phillies turn-around took place one day after the Brewers came from behind in dramatic fashion to win on Saturday night.

Jeff Suppan pitched well and deserved a better fate.  But the bullpen once again struggled.  Closer Francisco Cordero gave up the tying run and Manny Parra surrendered the game winner in the 11th.

Ryan Braun hit his 20th home run of the season becoming the fastest ever Brewer to 20 in his career.  But it is of little consolation after the Brewers failed to gain ground on the Chicago Cubs, who also lost 8-3 to the New York Mets.

The Cubs open a series at Colorado against the Rockies.  They'll send Claudio Vargas to the mound.  Milwaukee is just 21-32 away from Miller Park this season.
