State government moves "Up North"

The Governor, Lt. Governor and the cabinet will spend the week listening to people in the northern part of the state.

It's called the annual Up North Tour. The executive branch of state government will spend the week traveling through northern counties.

Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton is part of that tour designed to give northern residents a chance to get in touch with their state government. She says it's important to let people in that area know that while distance from Madison may be great they and their issues are not forgotten.

The Lt. Governor thinks they will hear plenty on a number of issues but two in particular, good family supporting jobs and health care. Lawton says those issues are the same across the state but there seems to be more intensity about it in the north.

The drought and what the state can do to help is also expected to be high on northern Wisconsinite's list.

The Minnesota Vikings have activated former Badger Erasmus James from the physically unable to perform list yesterday.

Bourdais leads the circuit by 37 points with just five races left.  Dan Clarke finished second and Graham Rahal third.

Brewers lose, Fielder could face league discipline

The Milwaukee Brewers not only lost to the Houston Astros 6-4 on Sunday, they may lose slugging first baseman Prince Fielder as well.

With the score tied 2-2 in the top of the 8th, Prince Fielder was called out on strikes by home plate umpire Wally Bell.  Fielder didn't think the pitch was a strike and said something to Bell, who immediately stepped at Fielder and ejected him.  Fielder then got in Bell's face and argued his point before manager Ned YOst could come out and step between the two.

At issue is whether or not Fielder bumped Bell during the argument.  Fielder claims he didn't.  That will be up to the league to decide once Bell files a report with the league.

The Brewers led early when Geoff Jenkins clubbed a pair of solo home runs.  But the Astros eventually tied the game and took a 3-2 lead when Lance Berkman led off the bottom of the 8th with a home run.

J.J. Hardy also homered for the Brewers in the 9th to cut the lead to 6-4, but that's all the closer the Brewers would get.

The Brewers are off today.  They still lead the Cubs by 1 1/2 games atop the N.L. Central Division.  Milwaukee opens a series against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night at Miller Park.
