How Spring weather develops will determine if deep snow becomes flood waters. All of Wisconsin has seen plentiful snow this Winter, with central and southern Wisconsin well above normal. Jeff Last, a meteorologist with the Green Bay office of the National Weather Service, says one factor is the amount of moisture in the snow. “We've had some pretty wet snow systems in the last sxi to eight weeks,” Last notes, addding that warmth and rain would add to concerns: “there are times in March where we'll get temperatures into the 50s and 60s, and any heavy rain on top of that would definately mean a potential for some serious flooding.” Last says a gradual rise in the temperatures allows the ground to thaw, so water can percolate into the soil instead of just running off.
