A school crossing guard was arrested near Wausau this week for being drunk on duty. The State Patrol arrested 54-year-old Kathleen Quinn Wednesday afternoon for her second operating while intoxicated offense. Lt. Tim Carnahan says a 911 caller reported Quinn was stumbling across a county highway while helping students cross. He says a trooper later found Quinn sitting in her car and determined she was intoxicated after she failed some field sobriety tests. She was just finishing her shift at the Rib Mountain elementary school, and Carnahan says it appears all the children had left by the time she was arrested.
Authorities are waiting for Quinn's blood test results to see how intoxicated she really was. Quinn has quit her job with the town of Rib Mountain. The Wausau school district sent a letter home Thursday letting parents know that someone would be at the intersection to help students safely cross.
