The Department of Transportation has those orange barrels already to go. There are around 450 state highway projects scheduled for this year, with a price tag of over $450 million.
Project Services Chief Don Greuel says they'll try to accommodate motorists as much as possible. They'll be doing more work at night or keep two lanes of traffic open during work hours. They'll also avoid work on weekends and holidays, when more people may be on the roads.
Major projects include the Marquette Interchange in Milwaukee, portions of the Interstate between the Wisconsin Dells and Osseo, and Highway 51 at Wausua.
