A Hudson woman is spending the day — and night — ringing a bell for the Salvation Army. It's the 3rd year that Helen McCombie has performed a 30-hour bell ringing marathon for the Salvation Army. It was about 3 degrees above zero when Helen began ringing her bell outside of a Hudson grocery store. And that actually was warmer than it was during Helen's first two marathons.
Helen was asked how she handles the cold: “Lots of layers.”
Her daughter and friends are keeping her company through the night. McCombie has raised $50,000 for the St. Croix County chapter of the Salvation Army over the past 2 years and within four hours Wednesday morning, she had raised nearly four thousand dollars.
