Tuesday will see the beginning of a bitterly, even dangerously cold period across Wisconsin, as arctic air filters into the state. The National Weather Service is predicting overnight lows from around 23 below zero in northwestern Wisconsin to around five below in southeast. Daytime highs through Thursday are unlikely to get much above five to ten degrees anywhere in the state — and that's without factoring in the wind chill, which could be as low as forty below in some locations in northern Wisconsin this week.
The state Department of Agriculture is reminding pet and livestock owners to take extra precautions to ensure their animals health and safety during the cold snap.
