A Fond du Lac County couple is dead the result of a murder-suicide. Sheriff Mick Fink says it happened in the Town of Eldorado around 8:45 AM Friday. Fink says deputies were on the scene quickly, but the man shot the woman and then himself. "The first officer on scene was here within 9 minutes of the original call," Fink said. "Three other deputies were arriving when he exited the residence, and then apparently shot her and then himself."
The man had armed himself with a handgun and was refusing to let the woman go, but she managed to contact a friend. "She had somehow gotten a text message or phone call to a friend, who in turn contacted an off-duty deputy," said Fink. "That's how we were made aware of it."
The couple's three-year-old daughter was in the house when the man shot the woman and himself on the front walk of the home. Another child was in school at the time of the shooting. The Sheriff's Department had responded to a call to the residence last November 16th, and had arrested the man for a domestic dispute.
