Authorities have identified the three people killed in a weekend plane crash in western Wisconsin. The plane was owned and apparently flown by Laurence Berg of Houlton. Berg had left Sheboygan Friday night and was flying to the New Richmond airport when the plane crashed in Tainter Township north of Menomonie.
Federal officials are investigating. Jim Silliman is the lead investigator for the Federal Aviation Administration. "We'll be looking at weather, determining if there was a cloud layer at that altitude . . . or mist or fog or icing."
Berg had flown to Sheboygan to pick up his wife Vicki, who traveled the state working as an anesthetist at small town hospitals. The other passenger was Brett Weller, who was a former president of the Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce and had recently started a new job in the Wausau area.
