The Public Service Commission has a new survey to help them figure out the best way to improve internet broadband service. Gary Evenson, Administrator of the agency's Telecommunications Division, says broadband varies by where you live with many people not being able to get service or dissatisfied with their coverage.
Although federal and state data has given extensive mapping of where broadband exists at the community level this poll, providing addresses, may allow them to pinpoint down to the street level.
The federal stimulus package has $7.2 billion dollars set aside for states to improve broadband coverage.
Wisconsin is still awaiting federal application criteria for the broadband funds which are distributed competitively. Evenson say they will likely know within 60 to 90 days what the feds want.
