A Southeast Wisconsin lawmaker says transportation integration will move the area forward. State Representative Jeff Stone (R-Greendale) says transit and transportation need to move “toward a regional approach” which includes a passenger rail that connects to Chicago through the proposed Kenosha/Racine/Milwaukee line. The Greendale Republican says the odds of making KRM a reality is higher than its ever been.
Stone says the biggest challenge is how to fund the rail, he favors a sales tax increase but a drop in property taxes something he says will lead to a lower overall tax burden for most in the region.
The Assembly Transportation Committee member also favors highway expansion on North/South I-94 as well as rapid commuter buses.
