Chrysler return to Kenosha unlikely

Governor Jim Doyle doubts Chrysler will restart operations in Wisconsin.

In a statement released Thursday afternoon, the governor said it is "unlikely that Chrysler will exercise its option to purchase the Kenosha car-engine plant."

Doyle calls the news disappointing. Although, he also admits it's not a surprise.

In his statement, the governor says he and his team have had "numerous" discussions with Chrysler and Fiat officials. Doyle says the CEO of Fiat has committed to examining the Kenosha plant for future opportunities with the company.

Arrests made in Kenosha murder

shirlssus_edited-1.jpg Based on tips from the community, two men wanted in connection with the murder of Robbie Wilde and the wounding of another man at Kenosha's Shirl's Drive-in have been arrested.

Daniel Gonzalez was arrested at a home in Kenosha Wednesday evening. Kenosha Police Sergeant Hugh Rafferty says gang unit members, armed with a tip, spotted Julian Miller walking in a parking lot early Thursday morning.

Rafferty says Miller tried to flee, but was stopped in the lot and tasered while resisting. Miller and an officer were injured during the arrest, but both were treated and released.

At a news conference Thursday, Rafferty said it may be several days before charges are issued against the pair and they appear in court. He says there are a lot of loose ends that need to be tied up before the case can be sent to the District Attorney for review.

Police say, after his arrest, Gonzalez gave them a statement. However, Miller has not spoken to investigators.

Police remain tight-lipped about what happened in Shirl's Drive-in last Sunday night and who gave them the tip that led to the arrests.

Brewers gain split with 7-3 win over Nationals

For the first two games of the series, the Washington Nationals looked like world beaters and the Milwaukee Brewers could do no right.

The Brewers have bounced back to win the last two games, including today's 7-3 win at Miller Park to salvage a split in the 4-game series.  The Brewers got home runs from Craig Counsell and Prince Fielder.  Counsell also extended his hitting streak to 12 games as the Brewers climb back to .500 at 51-51.

Yovani Gallardo earned the win (10-7), working 7 innings, allowing 3-runs on 5 hits.  Gallardo struck out 11, one shy of his career high.

Ryan Zimmerman clubbed a 3-run homer off of Gallardo for Washington's only run production.

The Brewers will travel to San Diego to face the Padres tomorrow (Friday) night.

Flash grenade startles neighborhood

A couple loud bangs around 8:30 Wednesday night had residents of a Madison neighborhood believing they heard gun shots. Police were assisting FBI agents as they served a federal search warrant at a house on the city's southwest side. Sergeant Dave McClurg says the loud bangs were stun grenades used to gain entry to the residence.

McClurg says they wanted to let people know the bangs were not gun shots. One man was taken into custody on a probation hold. Madison police and the FBI aren't saying what the investigation is all about.
