Baniel named Packers' Vice President of Finance

The Green Bay Packers have named Paul Baniel Vice President of Finance.  Baniel is a certified public accountant and the former Vice Presidnet of Finance for the Milwaukee Brewers and has an extensive background in professional sports finance to the organization.

Baniel comes to the Packers from Milwaukee, where he spent the last six years as the Chief Financial Officer of Potawatomi Bingo Casino.

Prior to that, Baniel worked 16 seasons for the Milwaukee Brewers from 1987 through 2002.  He served as the team's Vice President of Finance as well as Treasurer and Secretary for the final eight years of his tenure, coordinating the financing for the construction of a new stadium.

Collins will be in Packers camp on time

Green Bay Packers safety Nick Collins plans to be on hand when the team opens training camp workouts on Saturday. Collins hinted last month that he wasn’t happy with his contract, but his agent said Collins will be into camp on time.

The Packers still have two first round draft picks without a contract. Top pick B.J. Raji and Clay Matthews both share the same agent, which should aid the process.

Matthews deal is expected to get done sooner because of where he went in the first round of the draft, 26th overall. Players are scheduled to report Friday and start practicing on Saturday.
