For the second time this week, a body has been recovered from Madison’s Lake Monona. Tuesday night, the body of David Fritz was found near the Olbrich Park boat landing. The 39 year old Madison man went missing Monday night after an abrupt turn on his boat ejected Fritz, his wife and twin sons. They were rescued by nearby boaters, but Fritz was not. An autopsy on Fritz’s body will be conducted today.
Dane County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Elise Schaefer says searchers are persistent. “We never really technically call off a search, as long we know that there’s somebody out there, they’ll continue to look, and they’ll be out there every day.” Also this week, the body of Warren Roecker of Madison was found near Olin Park. “Our divers have been working a lot,” says Schaefer. Fritz was the fourth person to drown in Madison lakes since August.
