First doses of H1N1 vaccine arrive

Wisconsin’s first doses of the H1N1 vaccine are starting to show up.

Local health departments and medical facilities across Wisconsin began receiving their first shipments of the vaccine on Monday. The early doses are being used to vaccinate health care professionals and those who care for sick individuals at high risk for the H1N1 flu virus.

Currently, the nasal-spray version of the vaccine is what’s being shipped to Wisconsin. The flu shot is expected to arrive at a later date.

State health officials say it’s hard to track exactly where the doses are going right now, because more than two-thousand providers have requested the vaccine from the CDC.
