Tough year for NE WI businesses

2009 was a bad year for many companies in northeast Wisconsin. A survey of businesses shows that most businesses in all sectors of the economy did not meet their expectation this year.

First Business Bank conducted the survey. Mickey Noone is the bank’s northeast region president. He says the manufacturing sector was hit the hardest.

Noone says most company leaders say there is some light at the end of the tunnel in 2010. This is the second year that the bank has conducted the business survey.

Wolf worries in the woods

The head of the DNR got an earful on predators this week. It was one of the secondary topics which came up, when DNR Secretary Matt Frank went before legislative committees this week. Representative Amy Sue Vruwink told Frank that wolves have started to show up in her central Wisconsin district. “Some people deny that we have wolves in central Wisconsin,” Vruwink said. “But the more and more that my constituents contact me, and have sitings, I hope the DNR is listening to these people.” [Read more...]
