Keeping your digital data private

Will those online data back up services protect your privacy?

Backing up data in a remote location in case of computer crashes, natural disaster, or theft seems like a good idea. But, is that information kept private with someone else? All those tax records, personal photographs, bank statements. Will those backup providers snoop through your data?

“You need to look at the privacy notice, or the privacy statement as it’s called, it’s on their website. And see what their privacy practices are.  When is it that they might release your data?”

Brewers name 2010 Player Development staff

The Milwaukee Brewers named the Club’s Player Development staff for the 2010 season.

At Triple-A Nashville, Manager Don Money and coach Sandy Guerrero will both return for a second season.  Rich Gale will serve as the Sounds pitching coach.

Mike Guerrero will manage the Huntsville Stars in 2010 after spending the previous two seasons as manager at Class-A Brevard County in the Brewers organization. 

Bob Miscik will serve as manager at Class-A Brevard County after joining the organization in 2009 as Huntsville’s manager. 

In Appleton, Jeff Isom returns for a second season as the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers manager.  Pitching coach Chris Hook and assistant coach Matt Erickson also return for a second season in the Fox Cities.

New year starts with higher gas prices

The price of gasoline in Wisconsin is up almost a dollar from this time last year. AAA-Wisconsin spokesperson Beth Mosher says gas prices in the state have climbed almost $.10 in the past week with average price about $2.70 a gallon.

Badgers climb in top 25 polls, face a big week

Bo RyanAfter back to back wins to start the Big Ten season, the Wisconsin Badgers moved up to #17 in the A.P. Top 25 college basketball poll and to #20 in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll. 

Those rankings will be put to the test this week when the Badgers travel to #10 Michigan State tomorrow (Wed.) night and then return home to host 4th ranked Purdue on Saturday.

The Badgers are 3-0 against ranked teams this season, picking up wins over Ohio State, Maryland and Duke along the way.

Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan (pictured)  is looking for defensive improvement from his team.  The Badgers entered the week #1 in the Big Ten and 4th nationally in scoring defense (56.4 ppg).  Ryan said they’ll be working hard to improve in practice before facing the Spartans in East Lancing on Wednesday night.

Southeast Wisconsin has a new spiritual leader

Jerome Listecki has been installed as the 11th Archbishop of Milwaukee. Leaders of the Catholic Church from around the country were in Milwaukee for the event.  Dozens of bishops and four cardinals attended the invitation-only service Monday that filled the one-thousand seated Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.
