Lines of customers are more important than lines of credit right now, for Wisconsin’s small businesses. Insurer offering help to those stranded in Haiti
A Stevens Point-based travel insurance company is offering free help to any American stuck in Haiti, not just its customers.
Travel Guard spokesman Dan McGinnity says services being made available include emergency travel or lodging arrangement, medical evacuation, and passport replacement. He says they want to make sure they can provide help in any way possible. [Read more...]
Feingold doubts Haiti relief will become partisan
Senator Russ Feingold says the US will “step up to the plate” in helping out the neighboring nation of Haiti which is suffering after a massive earthquake. Despite US economic woes, Feingold says the disaster gives a sense of perspective for Americans; “This couldn’t be a tougher time for us but when you seem something like this you realize things could be much, much worse.”
Hughes leads Badgers past Northwestern
In the first half, Trevon Hughes (pictured) couldn’t throw one in the ocean. He made up for it in the second half, scoring 15 of his 16 points, including 4 three-pointers in the final 7 minutes, as the Wisconsin Badgers pulled away for a 60-50 win over the Northwestern Wildcats in Big Ten action in Evanston.
The Badgers outrebounded the Wildcats 38-29, including 15 offensive rebounds.

The Badgers shot just 28% from the field in the second half, but Northwestern wasn’t much better (33%). The offensive rebounding gave Wisconsin extra chances and they converted.
Jason Bohannon led Wisconsin with 19 points as Wisconsin improved to
14-3 overall, 4-1 in the Big Ten. The Wildcats fell to 12-4 overall and 1-3 in Big Ten play.
The Badgers are in Columbus on Saturday night to face the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Taxpayers pick up tab for prayer death couple’s lawyers
Separate attorneys paid for by taxpayers will represent the Weston prayer death parents on appeal. A Marathon County judge has ruled that Dale and Leilani Neumann cannot afford to hire an attorney to represent them as they appeal their reckless homicide convictions.
