The search for two missing snowmobilers from Appleton appears to be over.
Lieutenant Todd Christie of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department says a dive team pulled a second body out of Lake Winnebago on Tuesday morning. The body was found in the same area that divers located the remains of 30-year-old Keith Ebben, who went missing Saturday night with his friend 29-year-old Jay Luniak. The snowmobiles of both of the Appleton men were also located in the same area of open water.
Ebben and Luniak were last seen Saturday in Neenah. Their truck and trailer were parked at a bar in Kaukauna and police began searching the lake after reports of snowmobile tracks leading into the open water.
Police have not confirmed the second body found was Luniak, but Lt. Christie says their investigation into a “very unfortunate incident” is basically over.
