Packers want more cash and they want it now!

The Green Bay Packers mailed season ticket invoices last week and set a March 31st deadline for payment. 

That’s two weeks before income taxes are due and about six weeks earlier than the deadline the team normally sets to collect for season tickets.

The Packers say the change was motivated by the expectation that there might be more season-ticket holders giving up their tickets, and not by a need to collect ticket money interest earlier than usual.

Bo Ryan has Izzo’s number

Jordan TaylorPlaying once again without injured big man Jon Leuer, the 16th ranked Wisconsin Badgers held serve on their home court and rolled to a 67-49 win over the Michigan State Spartans at the Kohl Center in Madison on Tuesday night.  The loss for the Spartans (19-4, 9-1) was their first in the Big Ten Conference this season.

The Badgers played as well as they have all season, even without Leuer, shooting 51% from the field and putting four players in double figures.  Jason Bohannon led the way with 19 points and Jordan Taylor (pictured) added 17, including 10 of the Badgers first 13.

Spartans coach Tom Izzo hates losing to Bo Ryan, but he’s getting used to it, falling to 0-7 at the Kohl Center under Ryan.  Izzo’s overall record against in Madison is 5-12. [Read more...]

More disclosure called for from Assembly Speaker

A political watchdog says we may need a better explanation from the Speaker of the state Assembly, despite his admission that he’s dated a lobbyist for the payday loan industry. “It appears at least on the surface that the ethics laws were not violated, but there is some problem about public perception,” says Jay Heck with Common Cause in Wisconsin. State law prohibits lobbyists from providing anything of value to legislators. [Read more...]

Middle ground proposal for MPS

A state lawmaker says he’s found middle ground in the fight over who should control Milwaukee Public Schools. Democratic State Representative Fred Kessler has announced legislation giving the mayor the power to license all schools in the city, and close those that are failing. “I don’t believe we can fix the problems of MPS unless we also at the same time address the entire school system, including the voucher schools and including the open enrollment program,” Kessler said. Internet creates challenges for domestic victims

In an online age, it’s difficult for domestic abuse victims to stay under-the-radar. Abusers seek to control their victims by gaining as much information about them as possible and now have a variety of tools to do so.
