Legislation designed to contain aggressive ticket sales at sporting events has advanced at the Capitol. Originally written to address the concerns of the Milwaukee Brewers baseball club, regarding ticket resales outside Miller Park, the bill (SB 458) has now been amended to include the Bradley Center, home of the Milwaukee Bucks, as well as the Kohl Center and Camp Randall Stadium on the UW Madison campus. Judge rules shooter in ’07 incident still not competent for trial
A Marshfield man who shot at police during a traffic stop nearly two years ago has been found incompetent to stand trial. A judge recommitted Errol Demmerly to treatment in a state mental health facility after a doctor ruled he cannot assist in his own defense but is capable of being restored to competency
The 25-year-old Demmerly is accused of shooting at police during a June 2007 traffic stop for expired registration in the Wausau suburb of Rothschild. His case was ready to go to trial until attorneys said last month that he was not taking the required medicine, which prompted the latest evaluation. The judge will review his case every three months.
