Will Bucks make a deal before trade deadline?

The NBA trade deadline is 2pm Thursday afternoon.  The Milwaukee Bucks could be looking for some power forward help and have some expiring contracts to work with, but General Manager John Hammond will also have to consider how any new contract(s) would affect his team. 

Hammond will also have to take into account the uncertainty of the NBA’s labor situation when the current collective bargaining agreement expires in 2011.

Houston

The Bucks return from their all-star break to host the Houston Rockets tonight at the Bradley Center.  Houston is coming off of a loss at home to Utah last night.

Geoffrion named WCHA’s Offensive Player of the Week

Blake GeoffrionWisconsin Badger forward Blake Geoffrion was named the WCHA‘s Offensive Player of the Week.

Geoffrion tallied 3 goals and 4 assists in a pair of Badger victories over Minnesota State Mankato last weekend at the Kohl Center. 

Geoffrion and the Badgers close out the their regular season home schedule this weekend when they host St. Cloud State at the Kohl Center.  The Badgers will then close with a pair of road series at Michigan Tech and at Minnesota.

Anti-BPA advocate applauds Assembly action

The Assembly Tuesday overwhelmingly voted to ban Bisphenol-A in the sale and manufacturing of drink containers for kid’s three and younger. WISPIRG’s Bruce Speight, who advocated for a crackdown on the additive used in plastics, is not surprised it was a 95-to-2 vote. [Read more...]

State Senate passes IRA reform

The state Senate has passed legislation which will make it easier to save for retirement in Wisconsin. Current state law does not allow Wisconsin residents to law does not allow for all individuals to convert from a traditional IRA to a Roth IRA without a stiff penalty. “Without this bill, Wisconsin would have been the only state that had not adopted these provisions of IRA rollovers,” said state Senator Mark Miller (D-Madisom), in response to a question from Senator Mike Ellis (R-Neenah) on what impact the bill would have on state finances. “It was more of sense of that we needed to be appreciative of what we put our taxpayers through, when they fill out their income taxes.” [Read more...]

Mayors express support for high speed rail

Leaders of two communities affected by plans for high speed passenger rail express their support.

The Mayors of Oconomowoc and Watertown join WISPIRG and the High Speed Rail Association of Wisconsin, hammering home the benefits of the train to Wisconsin.
