Marquette’s 5-game win streak is history

The Marquette Golden Eagles missed an opportunity to further convince the college basketball world that they are deserving of a spot in the NCAA Tournament field.  The Golden Eagles struggled through one of their poorest performances of the season and fell to 19th ranked Pittsburgh 58-51 at the Bradley Center.

The Golden Eagles (16-9, 7-6 Big East) saw their 5-game win streak come to an end and forward Lazar Hayward said they got away from a team approach and tried to work too much one on one.

Badgers Big Ten title chances take a hit

The Minnesota Gophers entered last nights Big Ten home game against the 14th ranked Wisconsin Badgers as a desperate team.  The Gophers
(15-10, 6-7 Big Ten) need wins down the stretch to have a chance to get into the post-season.  Knocking off a team of the Badgers caliber would be a tremendous resume builder.

The Gophers added to that resume by pulling away in the second half to beat the Badgers 68-52.  Wisconsin pulled to within 45-42, but Bo Ryan’s Badgers went nearly 8 minutes from that point without scoring a point.
