The 2009 season was not a memorable one for former Brewer short stop J.J Hardy. After an all-star campaign in 2007 and a solid 2008, Hardy saw his numbers decline in 2009 earning him a trip back to the minors. In 2010, Hardy will sport some new threads.
November 6th, 2009 the Milwaukee Brewers sent Hardy to the Minnesota Twins for OF Carlos Gomez. After months of trade speculation, Hardy was happy to see a deal come to fruition.
With four-games left in the regular season, Marquette (17-9, 8-6) heads on the road for a vital Big East tilt with St. Johns (15-11, 5-9). The game is at the Carnesecca Arena in Queens, New York.
Marquette currently sits comfortably in the projected 65-team NCAA Tournament by most projections. Looking at the records, it appears this is a game the Golden Eagles should win. Marquette is 2-0 against St. John’s since joining the Big East.
Marquette’s final three games will be against teams with equal or worse Big East records than the Golden Eagles. Tonight’s tip is set for 6:30.
The last time the Milwaukee Bucks saw the .500 mark this season; December 12th after an overtime victory at home against Portland. Their record then was 11-11. Right now Milwaukee boasts a 27-28 mark.
The New Orleans Hornets (30-27) are up next for the Bucks tonight at the Bradley Center. The two teams meet back on November 25th in the Big Easy with the Hornets earning a 102-99 overtime victory. Luke Ridnour led the Bucks in that loss with 23 points and 10 assists.
Despite campaigning to be Wisconsin’s chief executive, gubernatorial candidate Tom Barrett won’t be shaking too many hands in the coming days. He’s having surgery today on the very body part that comes in handy for meeting and greeting new people.
“They’re going to re-break one of the fingers and set it again.”
Barrett’s right hand was crushed last August by an attacker as the Milwaukee Mayor went to assist a damsel in distress just outside State Fair Park.
He says it is a challenge trying to do what politicians do best.
“When I was a kid my father always said to give people a firm handshake and look them in the eye. It’s a little tough right now to give people a firm handshake but I still try to look them in the eye.”
Barrett didn’t seem to be in too much pain while addressing members of Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce. He frequently waved his hands and gestured while talking at the group’s Business Day in Madison.
NOTE: Barrett spoke to reporters after his speech to Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce. GOP candidate for governor, Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker, also spoke, and former Congressman Mark Neumann was invited but unable to make it.
