Wisconsin motorists apparently had heavy feet in 2009.
Speeding again topped the list of traffic citations issued in the state last year, according to the Transportation Department. Reed McGinn with the DMV says there were just over 128,000 convictions for speeding 11-19 miles over the limit, making that the number one violation.
Overall, there were 831,000 traffic convictions on record last year.
Seatbelt convictions came in second to speeding, and made up 12-percent of total violations. The increase comes after the state adopted a primary enforcement law for buckling up, which took effect last summer.
