Bucks extend streak to 5

The Bucks continue to take advantage of the weak portion of their schedule. Thursday night they held on to defeat the Indiana Pacers 112-110. John Salmons led seven Bucks in double-figures with 20-points.

Five is Milwaukee’s magic number at the moment. They have won five-straight games overall and their last five on the road. Center Andrew Bogut posted his 5th consecutive double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds Thursday. John Salmons has played five games for the Bucks since being traded to Milwaukee from Chicago.

#17 Badgers torch Indiana

For the second time in two weeks, the Basketball Badger Men clobber Indiana. Thursday night they took care of Tom Crean’s Hoosiers 78-46. Wisconsin (21-7, 11-5) outscored Indiana (9-18, 3-12) by 60-points in the two contests this season.

All five starters for the Badgers finished in double-figures. Trevon Hughes led the charge with 17. In his third game back, Jon Leuer posted 13-points and 7-rebounds. Jason Bohannon made it three-straight games in double digits with 11.

Seven Badgers grab silver; Two earn gold

A quick start helped propel Team Canada to a 2-0 victory over Team U.S in the Women’s Ice Hockey Gold Medal Game of the Vancouver Olympics Thursday. Canada has now struck gold in each of the last three Olympics. The U.S has gone Silver-Bronze-Silver over that stretch.

As for the Badgers (current and former) in the game; Carla MacLeod picked up her second straight gold for Canada with teammate Meaghan Mikkelson earning her first. Six Badgers take home silver for the U.S in their first Olympics: Meghan Duggan, Hilary Knight, Erika Lawler Jessie Vetter, Kerry Weiland and Jinelle Zaugg-Siergiej. Molly Engstrom will add the silver to her 2006 bronze medal in the trophy case.

Assembly approves mascot bill

The state Superintendent of Public Instruction would decide if schools have to get rid of Native American mascots and logos, under legislation approved Thursday in the state Assembly. The bill allows any resident of a school district to file a complaint with DPI about a race-based mascot, and gives the state Superintendent the authority to order it removed. [Read more...]
