Bucks crush Hornets; visit Pacers tonight

Andrew Bogut recorded his fourth straight double-double as the Bucks picked up a 115-95 win over the New Orleans Hornets at the Bradley Center Wednesday night.  John Salmons added 18 as he continues to get acclimated with the team after being traded to the Bucks last week.

Bogut has been thriving this season.  He is posting career numbers in points, rebounds and blocked shots after getting the big contract extension in the off-season.  Bucks Head Coach Scott Skiles has high praise for his center…

Renewable standards key to Clean Energy bill

Lawmakers are currently working on a final version of the Clean Energy Jobs Act and Governor Jim Doyle is stressing the importance of including new renewable energy standards in the legislation.

The Governor and his task force on global warming have called for the state to set the goal of getting 25-percent of Wisconsin’s energy from renewable sources by the year 2025. Doyle says that provision is a crucial part of the proposal, and is needed to really make the changes needed to Wisconsin’s economy. [Read more...]

Senate reloads on BadgerCare Basic

The Wisconsin Senate is poised to pass a bill which provides no-frills state health insurance, after concerns from a member of the Democratic majority led Majority Leader Russ Decker (D-Weston) to send the bill back to committee earlier this week. State Senator Jim Sullivan (D-Wauwatosa) said the amended bill, dealing with the BadgerCare Plus Core Basic Plan will require the state Department of Health Services to confirm that those who sign up for the Basic plan are eligible for it and the Core plan, which has a waiting list of 22,000. Governor signs new sex education standards

022410healthyWisconsin schools that choose to teach human growth and development courses will have to include information about contraceptives, under legislation signed into law Wednesday by Governor Jim Doyle.

The Healthy Youth Act requires school districts to teach about birth control in sex ed courses, and to make sure information taught to students is medically accurate, comprehensive, and age appropriate. Doyle says the bill will help make sure students are learning everything they need to know to help avoid STDs and pregnancies. [Read more...]
