Two Big Ten teams to play in Milwaukee Regional

Ohio State drew a #2 seed in the Midwest Regional and will open play in Milwaukee on Friday. 

A second Big Ten team, the Minnesota Gophers will also open play in Milwaukee.  The Gophers received an at-large bid and a #11 seed after advancing to the Big Ten Championship game before falling to Ohio State. 

The Milwaukee Regional games will see games played at the Bradley Center on Friday and Sunday.  Following are the Friday pairings announced earlier.

   2 Ohio State (27-7) vs. 15 UC-Santa Barbara (20-9)
   7 Oklahoma State (22-10) vs. 10 Georgia Tech (22-12)

   3 Pittsburgh (24-8) vs. 14 Oakland (26-8)
   6 Xavier (24-8) vs. 11 Minnesota (21-13)

The times for this regional should be announced this evening.

Tauscher gets 2-year deal with Packers

Mark TauscherMark Tauscher has reportedly re-signed with  with the Green Bay Packers

Packers coach Mike McCarthy told reporters at Green Bay Packers FanFest on Friday indicated he was optimistic about resigning Tauscher. 

According to reporter Jason Wilde of ESPN Milwaukee, the deal is for two years.

The deal comes after the Packers re-signed Chad Clifton, Nick Collins and Ryan Pickett to new contracts.  Deals for Collins and Pickett were announced at FanFest.

Tauscher returned to the Packers midway through last season after recovering from a torn ACL in week 14 of the 2008 season.

Marquette to meet Washington in NCAA’s

Not only did Marquette make the NCAA tournament field, but they did so as a number-6 seed.  The Golden Eagles (22-11) won two games in the Big East tournament before falling to Georgetown in the semifinals and wound up winning 11 of their last 14 games.  That earned them a first round date with the Washington Huskies (24-9) in San Jose, California on Thursday.

Washington has won its last seven games, including the Pac-10 Tournament Championship game over California 79-75.

Badgers draw 4-seed, face Wofford

Dropping their quarterfinal game to Illinois didn’t hurt the Wisconsin Badgers when it came to seeding in the NCAA Tournament pairings, while Illinois found themselves on the outside looking in.

The Badgers (23-8) were given a 4-seed in East Region and will face Wofford  of the Southern Conference in Jacksonville on Friday.  Wofford (26-8) is making it’s first NCAA tournament appearance and is riding a 13-game winning streak.

WIAA Boys basketball State Tournament field is set
