Packers sign second punter

After signing former University of Kentucky punter Tim Masthay to a reserve/future contract in January, the Green Bay Packers added a second punter on Tuesday.

Green Bay signed former Australian rules football player Chris Bryan.  Bryan punted in the Australian Football League from 2005-08.

Brewers shut Capuano down

The Milwaukee Brewers shut down left handed pitcher Chris Capuano for a few days after he was diagnosed with inflammation in his pitching elbow.  Capuano had been experiencing lingering soreness after an exhibition outing against Cincinnati almost a week ago.

Capuano is coming off of his second Tommy John surgery and is trying to return as a starting pitcher.

In two spring outings, Capuano has allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 4 1/3 innings.

Targeting gun owners who pose a threat

Under current law if a domestic or child abuser poses a “significant threat” by the court they are required to give up their firearms, according to Office of Justice Assistance spokesperson Tami Jackson. OJA announced four counties will receive $250,000 in federal stimulus funding to implement a new protocol developed by prosecutors, law enforcement and victims’ rights groups.

The economy/home building connection

The construction industry hopes spurring the economy will end a swoon in new home starts. Jim Kubasta, an Oshkosh builder, says the souring of the economy over the last few years has had a direct impact on the number of homes his business puts up.
