Proposal makes voter registration easier

Wisconsin voters could soon find it even easier to register to vote.

Proposed legislation at the Capitol would attempt to match up state records with voter information, essentially registering you to vote whenever you have contact with a state agency. State Representative Jeff Smith (D-Eau Claire) says they hope to start with the Department of Transportation, because Wisconsinites typically identify where they are living when they register a vehicle or obtain a driver’s license. Crivitz teen will avoid prison

A teen accused of making threats against Crivitz High School is convicted and sentenced. A deal reached between prosecutors and 17-year old Brett Bedora should allow the Crivitz teenager to avoid prison. Bedora was arrested and charged after police searched his home in January, and allegedly found firearms and notebooks containing threats against the Crivitz school and a fellow student. Making the case for homegrown energy (AUDIO)

An environmental group contends clean energy legislation will be a boon to farmers and homeowners. On the Capitol Square Wednesday, Clean Wisconsin staff scientist Peter Taglia talked up the potential benefits of renewable home grown energy. Taglia said farmers and homeowners could realize such benefits through incentives to install technology such as solar panels. [Read more...]

Green Bay wins CBI opener

The UW-Green Bay Phoenix men’s basketball team won it’s College Basketball Invitation (CBI) opener on Wednesday night, knocking off the Akron Zips 70-66.

Green Bay’s Troy Cotton led the way with 36 for the Phoenix, who trailed 24-23 at halftime.

The Phoenix will face the Billikens in St. Louis in the 2nd round on Monday night.

Davis sharp in Brewers exhibition win

Another solid outing for Milwaukee Brewers lefty Doug Davis in a 5-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds. 

Davis started and allowed just 3-hits and a walk in four scoreless innings for the Brewers.

Rickie Weeks and Adam Stern homered in the win for the Brewers.  They’ll take on the Texas Rangers tonight.
