Packers workout, Colledge stays home

Daryn ColledgeThe Green Bay Packers voluntary off-season workout program is underway and left guard Daryn Colledge is not taking part.  Colledge is instead workout out at home in Boise, Idaho, while looking for a long term contract form the Packers.

The Packers aren’t sure if Colledge will be a starter this season or not, which means they likely have little incentive to sign him to anything more than the 1-year qualifying offer.

Marquette opens NCAA Tournament tonight

The Marquette Golden Eagles open play in the NCAA Tournament tonight against the University of Washington in San Jose (6:20pm tip).

Golden Eagles coach Buzz Williams feels the key to beating Washington is to control tempo.  The Huskies like to get up and down the floor and they like to take the ball to the rim.  Washington shoots a lot of free throws and has already attempted 50 foul shots in a single game.

Boys State Tournament starts today

The WIAA Boys State High School Basketball Touranment tips off this morning with division 4 semi-finals at the Kohl Center.

9:05 am  Royall (20-7) vs. Randolph (27-0)
10:45am Clayton (25-1) vs. Green Bay NEW Lutheran (17-10)

The Division 1 Quarterfinals follow this afternoon and tonight.

Bucks trip west starts on a sour note

The Milwaukee Bucks 6-game win streak came to an end on Wednesday night as they fell 101-93 to the Los Angeles Clippers.  Los Angeles snapped its 8-game losing streak. 

Chris Kaman scored 20 points and Drew Gooden added 16 for the Clippers.

Brandon Jennings had 21 points, John Salmons 20 and Andrew Bogut added 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Bucks, who have still won 12 of their last 14 games. 

The road trip continues in Sacramento on Friday night.

Car sales drop

Wisconsinites are hanging on to their wheels in 2010, as new cars and truck sales dropped eleven-percent statewide during the first two months of this year. [Read more...]
