Maple trees around Wisconsin are now being tapped a tradition going back to the Indians. Native American culture enthusiast Sue Kenney says families would bury food caches in the ground in the fall near the maple trees, so when spring arrived, they could more easily set up camp to harvest the trees.

Point splits baseball twin-bill with St. Norbert

UW-Stevens Point and St. Norbert College split a Sunday doubleheader at DePere.
St. Norbert College won the opener 5-4 and dropped game two 8-1.
Tony Jandron hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 7th to win it for the Green Knights in the opener.
Scott Williams held SNC to one run on 8 hits in nine innings for the Pointers in game two. Stevens Point (7-4) is ranked No. 15 in D3baseball.com’s top 25 poll.

Health care legislation is law, now what?
There’s a lot of partisan rhetoric going on in Washington, and it’s trickling down to some lawmakers’ district offices. Will this political bickering make it difficult to get major legislation passed in the remainder of the legislative session?

Nascar to give it another go today

Rain washed out yesterday’s Nascar Sprint Cup Goody’s 500 race in Martinsville, Virginia. There’s rain in the forecast again, but they’ll try to get that event underway again today.
Cambridge native Matt Kenseth will start on the front row, qualifying in the #2 spot.
The other Wisconsin drivers in the field are Paul Menard who qualified 9th and Travis Kvapil 34th.
