Bucks miss a chance to win in Cleveland

The Cleveland Cavaliers not only have the best record in the NBA, but the best home court record in the league.  Last night, the Milwaukee Bucks gave the Cavs a good run for their money before falling 101-98.

The Cavaliers shot 49 free throws, while the Bucks attempted just 9, a huge disparity that figured into the outcome.  Bucks big man Andrew Bogut said, “This is a little over the top.  We know they’re an aggressive team and we know they get to the rim but we were attacking the rim the same way.”  Bucks forward John Salmons said he didn’t want to lose any money so he wasn’t going to comment. Hart could open Brewers season on the bench

Ken MachaCorey Hart went 0-for-3 in yesterday’s 12-7 Cactus League win over the Chicago Cubs, seeing his spring average dip to .127.  Hart has just one hit in his last 27 at-bats, and his chance to start opening day may be in jeopardy.

Milwaukee Brewers Manager Ken Macha (pictured) said he is considering giving veteran Jim Edmonds a start in right field on Monday.  Edmonds is a left handed hitter and would be facing Colorado right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez.

Edmonds is expected to be back in camp today after missing the last couple of games attending to an urgent family matter in California.  Macha said he’d like to get Edmonds some at bats over the next three days to get him ready for the opener. [Read more...]

Governor expects final version of clean energy bill soon

The Governor remains hopeful lawmakers will act on clean energy legislation before the session wraps up.

Lawmakers have been working on the bill since January, which is intended to increase the use of renewable energy in Wisconsin and set new emissions standards. Governor Jim Doyle believes a final version of the package is close and that it’s moving in the right direction. [Read more...]

Protecting the rights of voters

State lawmakers are considering several reforms to help make voting easier in Wisconsin.

Lawmakers held a public hearing at the Capitol Wednesday on legislation that would simplify voter registration, expand options for absentee ballots, and punish those who try to disenfranchise voters. State Representative Jeff Smith (D-Eau Claire), a sponsor of the proposal, says the bill will streamline the process of registering to vote, make it easier for active duty military to cast ballots, and protect voters from intimidation.
