Packers get 4 prime time games in 2010

Mike McCarthyThe Green Bay Packers 2010 regular season schedule was released on Tuesday and Packers coach Mike McCarthy has his sights set on the first four games.

The Packers open the regular season at Philadelphia on September 12, play their home opener the next week against Buffalo on September 19.  The Packers follow that up with a game at Chicago on Monday night, September 27 and return home to play Detroit on October 3. [Read more...]

Members of the state Assembly have voted to censure an embattled lawmaker, rather than expel him from office.

State Representative Jeff Wood (I-Chippewa Falls) will be allowed to serve out the rest of his term in office, after the Assembly voted 73-24 Wednesday morning to censure him for misconduct in office. Wood was arrested three times this session for driving under the influence. [Read more...]

Bush pitches Brewers past Pirates

Dave BushAfter a slow start by the Milwaukee Brewers pitching staff, right hander Dave Bush tossed 7-shutout innings and led the Brewers to an easy 8-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.  It allowed the Brewers to capture their first series opener in 5 tries.

Bush allowed just 3-hits and 4 walks in picking up his first win of the season.  He lowered his ERA to 2.41 on the season.  Catcher Greg Zaunn said Bush was outstanding.

Corey Hart homered for the Brewers and Ryan Braun and Casey McGehee each drove in a pair of runs.

Police arrested a 57-year-old North Dakota man early Wednesday after a five-hour standoff in which he barricaded himself inside a Rothschild motel. Donald Allen Welch was booked into the Marathon County jail on recklessly endangering safety and disorderly conduct charges.

Assembly delays action on Clean Energy bill

Action in the state Assembly on the Clean Energy Jobs Act will have to wait. After meeting through the late hours of Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, lawmakers decided to move the measure to Thursday’s session instead.

The legislation would bring a wide range of changes to state energy policies, such as requiring Wisconsin to get 25 percent of its energy from renewable sources by the year 2025. It would also impose new emissions standards and supporters say it would help create thousands of jobs. [Read more...]
