Grahm selected by Houston

Garrett GrahmWisconsin Badger tight end Garrett Grahm was selected in the 4th round,  by the Houston Texans.

Grahm will join another former Badger tight end with the Texans, Owen Daniels.

Grahm was projected to go anywhere from the 3rd
to the 5th round in this 2010 NFL Draft.

Admirals win in OT, force a game 7

Ryan Maki’s overtime goal gave the Milwaukee Admirals a 5-4 win over the Chicago Wolves and forced a game 7 in their AHL West Division semi-finals.

Maki’s game winner came on his 25th birthday and evened the series at 3-games apiece.  Game 7 will be played back in Rosemont, Illinois on Monday night.

Suppan struggles, Brewers fall to Cubs

Ken MachaRyan Dempster beat the Milwaukee Brewers for the fourth straight game and the Chicago Cubs rolled to a 8-1 win over the Brewers at Miller Park on Friday night.

Kosuke Fukudome and Tyler Colvin both homered, to back Dempster (2-0) who gave up just 1 run on 7 hits in 7 2/3 innings.  Dempster struck out four Brewers and walked only one.  He’s now 9-1 in his last 11 starts against Milwaukee.

Dempster also cooled off a Brewers team that out scored Pittsburgh 36-1 during their 3-game sweep that ended Thursday with a 20-0 win by the Brewers.  Brewers manager Ken Macha (pictured) chalked it up to baseball.  You score 20 one day and only 1 the next.

Jeff Suppan continued his struggles as a starter.  Suppan allowed 6 runs and 10 hits in just 4 1/3 innings and took the loss.  Suppan walked 2 and struck out 2 and knows he has to get better.

The Brewers and Cubs play game two of their series at Miller Park tonight.

Packers provide depth and competition after two days

Ted Thompson 5The Green Bay Packers went defense on day 2 of the draft, selecting Purdue defensive end Mike Neal and Georgia Tech safety Morgan Burnett with their 2nd and 3rd round selections. 

When you include first round pick Bryan Bulaga from Iowa on day 1, the Packers served notice to the veteran players on the football team that there’ll be some competition for jobs in the upcoming training camp.  They also let the organization’s fans know that they’re adding depth because of uncertainties at the various positions. Youth mobilizing to fight fat

Wisconsin is among 15 states given a $50,000 by the National 4-H Council and the Wal Mart Foundation for healthy living programs at the local level. 4-H Healthy Living Task Force member Ruth Litchfield says although healthy living includes social and emotional well being, as well as staying safe, the focus here is primarily on the issue of people being overweight and obese.
