Suspect shot trying to drive away in squad car

Police in Oak Creek have fatally shot a suspect who was found in the driver’s seat of a squad car. Police Chief Tom Bauer says the suspect was believed to have burglarized a home, and then was checking other homes in the same vicinity when a citizen reported the activity, leading to the suspect’s car being chased and crashing into a business in nearby Caledonia.

Brewers continue their mastery of the Pirates

After the Milwaukee Brewers were swept over the weekend by the Chicago Cubs, they were glad to see the the Pittsburgh Pirates back in town. 

The Brewers turned a lopsided game in the 8th into a major league blowout by scoring 9-runs in the inning, on the way to a 17-3 win at Miller Park.

After outscoring the Pirates 36-1 in a 3-game sweep last week, the Brewers have now outscored Pittsburgh 53-4 over the last four meetings between the two teams.  [Read more...]

Admirals season comes to an end

After rebounding from a 3-1 deficit to tie the series at 3-games apiece, the Milwaukee Admirals saw their season come to an end, falling 2-1 to the Chicago Wolves in the 0pening round of the of the American Hockey League playoffs. 

The Admirals managed just 16 shots on goal last night.

Delfino breaks out, Bucks draw even

SCOTT SKILESMilwaukee Bucks guard Carlos Delfino broke out of his shooting slump, hitting six 3-pointers and scoring 22 points to help the Bucks knock off the Atlanta Hawks 111-104 before a sold out crowd at the Bradley Center.  The win drew the series even at 2-games apiece. 

John Salmons added 22 and Brandon Jennings led the way with 23 points and he said they continue to prove their doubters wrong.

Search for EAB continues

080508eabState Ag officials are getting set to renew the search for the Emerald Ash Borer in Wisconsin. In the coming weeks, the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection will begin placing traps across Wisconsin that will help detect where the tree-killing beetle is currently living.

DATCP pest specialist Mick Skwarok says there planning to set nearly 8,700 traps this year, in what may be the biggest effort in the U.S. to track the EAB. He says traps will be set in every county in the state, with the greatest focus on high risk areas near infestations, such as campgrounds and lumber yards. [Read more...]
