Bucks in the drivers seat

The Milwaukee Bucks are now one win away from showing the Atlanta Hawks the playoff door.  Rookie Brandon Jennings poured in a game high 25 points to lead the Bucks to a 91-87 come from behind win and take a 3-2 series lead on the Hawks.  Game 6 is back home at the Bradley Center on Friday night.

The Bucks, who trailed by as many as 9, used a 14-0 run late in the fourth quarter to end the Hawks 14-game win streak at Philips Arena.

A big reason for the win was the Bucks work at the free throw line.  The Bucks made 15 free throws in the fourth quarter alone, while the Hawks had none.  [Read more...]

Deer hunt changes may hit the mark

State wildlife officials will try to have more deer in places where hunters complained about a lack of animals last fall. A plan approved Wednesday by the Natural Resources Board takes effect for the 2010 gun deer hunt.  However, the head of the state’s largest conservation group doesn’t expect results right away.

Brewers struggling to get Hoffman on track

The Milwaukee Brewers dropped their 2nd straight to the Pittsburgh Pirates, with Trevor Hoffman blowing his fourth save of the season. 

Hoffman was on to start the 9th, trying to protect a 4-3 lead.  He served up a leadoff home run to pinch hitter Ryan Doumit and the Brewers eventually fell 6-5 in 14-innings.  Hoffman also served up a grand slam to Doumit in a Pirates victory the day before.  Hoffman has now allowed 6-home runs in his four blown saves this season. Evers meets two-time academic champs

State school superintendent Tony Evers on Wednesday met Marshfield’s Ocean Sciences Bowl team that successfully defended its 2009 championship last weekend, at this year’s competition in St. Petersburg, Florida. Evers called it “outstanding” as a school from Marshfield competed against maritime schools.

Worker accused of falsifying child abuse reports

A Racine County employee has been fired amid allegations they filed several false reports instead of investigating claims of child abuse.  The accused could also face criminal charges. The probe stemmed from fellow workers in the Human Services Department looking into previous reports that didn’t match up.
