Trevor Hoffman blew his 3rd save of the season and the Milwaukee Brewers fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-3 at Miller Park on Tuesday night.
Ronny Cedeno tied the game in the 9th with a solo home run off of Hoffman. The Pirates then loaded the bases before Ryan Doumit clubbed a grand slam home run to win it.
The win snapped Pittsburgh’s 22-game losing streak at Miller Park, as well as their 7-game overall losing streak.
Hoffman gave up 4-hits in the 9th and struggled to get ahead in the count. Falling behind, Hoffman couldn’t use his signature changeup. Instead, he was working his fastball and slider and admittedly just missed his spots. Hoffman said the blown save is tough on the whole team.

The loss erased a solid start for lefty Randy Wolf, who allowed just 2 runs over 8-innings. Prince Fielder had put the Brewers ahead 3-2 in the 8th with a home run. Catcher George Kottaras also homered for the Brewers.
Trevor Hoffman has served up 5 home runs in his 3 blow saves and his ERA has ballooned to 13.50. Manager Ken Macha said he’s naturally concerned.
