A coalition of small business groups is speaking up in opposition to a mental health mandate for Wisconsin.
The bill being considered by lawmakers would require insurance companies to provide full coverage for treating those who suffer from mental illness. Bill Smith of the Wisconsin Federation of Independent Business says the bill carries a steep price tag and would increase the cost of health insurance for small businesses and employees.
Smith says it’s not just the so-called mental health parity bill they’re worried about, but other insurance mandates that are being considered in the state Legislature.
