UW System set records in 2009

A new report shows efforts to increase the graduation rate on UW campuses is paying off.

The annual Accountability Report from the UW System shows over 33,000 degrees were awarded and nearly 178,000 students were enrolled at campuses across the state in 2009. UW researchers to look at ankle braces (AUDIO)

Packers wrap up “Rookie Orientation” camp

James Campen & Bryan BulagaThe Green Bay Packers got their draft choices and other rookie and first year players off on the right foot.  Mike McCarthy wrapped up his 3-day Rookie Orientation mini-camp with a workout on Sunday morning.  McCarthy said it was a good weekend for his young players.

Solinsky sets new American record in 10,000 meters

Stevens Point, Wisconsin native Chris Solinsky became the first American athlete to break 27 minutes in the 10K.  Solinsky not only won the race and set the record, but he did so by roughly 14-seconds faster than the previous mark set by Meb Keflezighi.

Solinsky earned All-American honors four times at the University of Wisconsin.  He graduated in 2007.  Solinsky took fourth in the 2008 Olympic Trials and made his first World Championship team in 2009. 

Solinsky is now the first non-African to break 27 minutes in a 10,000 meter event.

Stricker withdraws from Players Championship

Madison golfer Steve Stricker has withdrawn from The Players Championship.

Stricker is still being bothered by soreness in his right collarbone.  He withdrew from the Zurich Classic of New Orleans two weeks ago. 

Stricker is set to appear next in the Colonial (May 27-30), where he is the defending champion.
