UW Alum Ross, passes away

Former Wisconsin football and track & field standout, Don Voss, passed away from lymphoma at the age of 76.

Voss was an All-Big Ten defensive end on the football team and an All-American in track and field.  In 1951, Voss was a part of the Badger defense that ranked #1 in the country.

Voss was inducted into the UW-Athletic Hall of Fame back in 2006.

The Republican candidate for Dave Obey’s House seat says his campaign won’t change, no matter who runs against him. During a conference call with reporters on Wednesday, Sean Duffy was asked whether he thought his aggressive campaign against Obey may have been a factor in the veteran Democrat’s decision to not seek reelection. “I don’t know if this had anything to do with that, but Mr. Obey did polling in February and didn’t release those results, so I think he probably knows better than the rest of us what the mood and the sentiment is here in the 7th Congressional District,” said Duffy. Tebow is number-1 in jersey sales, Rodgers in top 20

It’s only one month, but Denver Bronco fans are swallowing up all of the #15 Tim Tebow jersey’s they can.  Tebow leads the NFL in jersey sales in the month of April.  The two-time Heisman Trophy winner ranks in front of new Washington quarterback Donovan McNabb. 

Drew Brees, Peyton Manning and Brett Favre ranked 3rd, 4th and 5th in April jersey sales. 

Aaron Rodgers Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers ranked 19th in jersey sales at the end of April.

Suspended Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger dropped out of the top 25 for April after ranking 11th in jersey sales for the year ending March 31st.

Brewers score big again, beat Dodgers

The Milwaukee Brewers made it two-in-a-row over the Los Angeles Dodgers, scoring 11 runs for the second straight game and winning 11-3. 

One night after scoring 9-runs in the second inning, the Brewers scored four times in the first inning last night.  Prince Fielder drove in two of the four runs with a single to left in the first. [Read more...]

Police chief weighs in on new texting ban

Doug Pettit is the Chief of Police for the Oregon Police Department, and former President of the Wisconsin Police Chiefs Association. He says law enforcement officers are used to observing motorists’ behaviors, so the texting ban (AB-496) won’t be a burden on their job.

“Well, I think law enforcement officers on a daily basis observe people that are involve in distracted driving types of behavior, whether it be talking on a cell phone, texting, we see reading a book — all those kinds of things.” [Read more...]
