Groups want Governor to veto raw milk bill

A broad coalition is calling on Governor Doyle to veto a bill that legalizes the sale of raw milk in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association President Brian Baker says the bill allowing the sale of unpasteurized milk products could badly damage the state’s $26 billion dairy industry, if even one outbreak were to occur because of tainted milk. [Read more...]

Pugs and their caretakers from all over the US are descending upon the Milwaukee area for the annual Pug Fest. Organizers expect this event to the biggest so far. Rick Kopaczewski, President of Pug Hugs Inc, says the gathering drew 1,800 humans and more than 1,000 pugs last year. They’re expecting 2,200 humans and 1,200 pugs this time around with advanced tickets sold as far as Texas, California and New York.

Uecker to address media at Miller Park today

Milwaukee Brewers radio play-by-play man Bob Uecker, will address the media for the first time since undergoing heart surgery last month.

Uecker will discuss his condition at a 3:15pm press conference at Miller Park.  Uecker underwent  an operation on his heart to repair the damage from an aortic aneurysm in April.  At that time, it was anticipated the Uecker would miss anywhere from 10 to 12 weeks.

Uecker started his 40th season behind the microphone this season before it was cut short by the medical procedure.

Brewers by the numbers!

The Brewers and Phillies square off in the first of three tonight at Miller Park. 

Talk about Jekyll and Hyde.  In the Brewers 15 wins this season, they’re hitting .323 with 30 home runs and an average of 9.5-runs per game.

In the teams 19 losses, the Brewers are hitting just .226 with 8 home runs and an average of 2.3 runs per game. [Read more...]

St. Norbert & Ripon post opening round baseball wins

St. Norbert College opened the 2010 Midwest Conference baseball tournament with a 7-3 win over Illinois College at Grinnell today.  The Green Knights improved to 24-10 with the win, Illinois College falls to 16-15. 

Ripon College won the other opening round game, beating Grinnell 11-4.  Ripon (22-15) will take on St. Norbert College in a winners bracket game at 1:30 today.

Illinois College will face Grinnell (21-15) in a losers bracket game at 3:30pm.
