The Department of Natural Resources investigates cougar attack on a cow. DNR wildlife biologist Adrian Wydevan says the cougar which attacked a cow in Juneau County probably traveled a long distance. “If it’s a wild animal, and that’s what we’re assuming at this point, it most likely originated from the Dakotas or western Nebraska,” Wydevan says, adding that it’s that there is a breeding population of cougars in Wisconsin at this time. The Green Bay Packers are Kings choice as the #1 team. But keep this in mind. King last year at this time, selected the Chicago Bears to win the Super Bowl and the New Orleans Saints to finish 24th.
Killebrew to speak at Northwoods All-Star Banquet
The Eau Claire Express announced that National Baseball Hall of Fame member Harmon Killebrew will be the guest speaker at this year’s Northwoods League All-Star banquet. The July 19th banquet precedes the league’s 16th annual all-star game which will be played at Carson Park on Tuesday, July 20th.
Killebrew, an 11-time American League all-star and the league’s Most Valuable Player in 1969, became one of the most feared power hitters of the 1960′s, belting 40 homers in a season eight times and hitting the most home runs of any player during the 60′s.
Killebrew hit 573 home runs in his career while driving in 1,584 runs. In 1984, he was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame, becoming the first Minnesota Twin to be so honored.
Plan for commuter rail moving forward
A transit panel has taken another step toward the building of a Kenosha-Racine-Milwaukee commuter train. The Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Transit Authority voted (7-2) Monday to seek federal approval to start preliminary engineering work on a proposed KRM.
Brewers losing skid hits season high 7
Jonny Gomes’ three-run homer completed a five-run rally in the 7th inning and the Cincinnati Reds stayed in first place in the Central Division with a 6-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. Gomes’ homer off of Todd Coffey sent the Reds to their 8th victory in the last 9 games.
Cincinnati moved into first place on Sunday. The Reds haven’t been there this deep into the season since 2006. [Read more...]
