Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan and Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty fired up state Republican Party delegates in Milwaukee Friday. The star of Wisconsin’s Republican Party, Ryan said the party has a lot going for it in a challenging time. “We have the ideas, we have the passion, we have the principles, we have the energy,” Ryan told the crowd at the Harley-Davidson Museum. “We cannot take it for granted. The other side has all the power right now. They run Madison, they run Washington, and they have different ideas.” [Read more...]

WI GOP parties in Milwaukee

Wisconsin Republicans hold their convention in Milwaukee this weekend. State GOP party chair Reince Preibus says, with 1500 delegates and guests, the party’s party in Milwaukee has forced a moved to a larger venue – the Frontier Airlines Center – for Saturday’s events.

Those delegates will vote to endorse candidates for governor, lieutenant governor, and Congress as the GOP prepares for what Priebus says will be an historic election. “This is our time in history,” says Priebus. “A time for our family to rebuild itself, but also to take back our state and our country. I think people feel the energy of that opportunity.” Priebus says the Republican Party must recommit to fiscal responsibility to be successful in November. The convention ends Sunday.

Polaris Industries headed to Mexico

Brewers end 9-game slide

It wasn’t a thing of beauty.  The Milwaukee Brewers managed just 5-hits and fell behind 3-0 in the first inning.  But they rebounded for a 4-3 win over the Pirates at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.

This time the bullpen didn’t cave in for the Brewers.  Newcomer John Axeford tossed two scoreless innings and Carlos Villanueva came on to pitch the 9th and record his first save of the season.

Catcher George Kottaras entered the game after Gregg Zaun left with an injury.  He doubled in a run to help the Brewers rally.

Lefty Chris Narveson spotted the Pirates 3-runs in the first inning, then, with the help of the Brewers bullpen, held the Pirates scoreless the rest of the way.  The win allowed the Brewers to avoid the ninth losing streak of at least 10 games in franchise history.  They hadn’t lost 10-straight since the 2006 season.

The Brewers open inter-league play tonight at Target Field in Minnesota against the Twins.

Google privacy breach is good lesson on security

That Google privacy breach … what does it mean?

The street view photography vehicles driven throughout the country to acquire data for Google maps inadvertently collected more information than expected from consumers who have insecure wireless Internet connections.

“I don’t think that our biggest concern should be Google, but it does raise a security issue that we should all be concerned about. And that is if you have a wireless router … is it secured?” [Read more...]
