These soaring temperatures serve as a reminder to keep your pets cool. Jim Hurley with the Rock County Humane Society says water and shade are the two best ways to beat the heat. He says a dog house is not protection enough in sweltering temperatures.
NY Super Bowl? Brrrrr
NFL owners meetings start in the Dallas area today and the awarding of the 2014 Super Bowl is on the agenda. Miami and Tampa, both with plenty of Super Bowl experience, are up for consideration. But believe it or not, the co-sponsored bid between the New York Jets and New York Giants at the new $1.6-billion Meadowlands appears to be the favorite.
That means potential snow storms or bitter cold temperatures could come into play not only for the game itself, but for the entire Super Bowl week.
The NFL has some sort of rule that wants the average temperature in the city hosting the Super Bowl to be in the ball park of 54-degrees or higher. But they’ve waived that rule, which would appear to open the door for New York. [Read more...]
Walker ready to take back state government
With the endorsement of the Republican Party in hand, gubernatorial candidate Scott Walker hit the campaign trail again on Monday.

Neumann pledges health care opposition
Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Neumann says he’ll call for a state waiver from the federal health care reforms enacted by Congress this year, if he’s elected in November.
The former Congressman Neumann delivered more than 25,000 petition signatures to Governor Doyle’s office on Monday, calling for action to prevent federal health care reforms from taking effect in Wisconsin. As a small business owner, Neumann says he fully understands the impact of “Obamacare” and how it will drive businesses and jobs out of the state. [Read more...]
GOP predicts Walker win, but Neumann not out
Heading out of the Republican Party of Wisconsin’s state convention this past weekend in Milwaukee, the focus is on Scott Walker. The Milwaukee County Executive won the endorsement of delegates at the convention with 91-percent of the vote.
State GOP Chairman Reince Priebus says he expects Walker to go on to win the Republican nomination in September, although he admits former Congressman Mark Neumann remains a strong candidate. [Read more...]
