Suspect at large in Green Bay murder

26-year-old Mao Xiong Police in Green Bay are searching for a suspect in connection with a fatal stabbing in the city.

Green Bay Police Commander Greg Urban says 35-year-old Eric View was stabbed to death outside of a restaurant early Thursday morning, following a bar fight at the Cock and Bull Tavern on Main Street. [Read more...]

Even defeat can be a good lesson for child athletes

Summer sports programs mean smiles for kids with potential sadness as well. A sports psychiatrist says if kids get bummed from making a bad play or losing a game it’s important not to sweep the situation under the rug. “The most important thing I think is to acknowledge their child’s feeling about what happened,” says Dr. Claudia Reardon of the UW School of Medicine and Public Health.

Geoffrion awarded USA Hockey honor

Graduated Wisconsin Badger senior forward Blake Geoffrion has been named

USA Hockey’s College Player of the Year.  Geoffrion will be honored at a June 10th awards dinner.

Geoffrion helped lead the Wisconsin Badgers to the NCAA title game, while capturing Wisconsin’s first Hobey Baker Memorial Award as the nation’s top collegiate player. 

Geoffrion completed the season second in the WCHA with 34 points in 25 league games, while ranking third in the national goal-scoring race with 28 goals in 40-games.

The Nashville Predators prospect made his pro debut in a short stint with the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals following the completion of the Badgers’ season.

Panthers open NCAA’s tonight

The UW-Milwaukee Panther men’s baseball team opens play in the NCAA Division 1 baseball regional tonight at top-seeded Arizona State.  The Panthers are making their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2002.

The Panthers (33-24) are seeded 4th in the 4-team regional.  Second seeded San Diego faces 3rd seeded Hawaii in the other first-round game.
