Tea Party types gain ground with voters

Several candidates across the US favored by tea party groups did well in Tuesday night’s political primaries. Most notably Sharron Angle, a former Nevada state representative who won the GOP nomination to face Senator Harry Reid. Lora Halberstadt, Coordinator for the Racine Tea Party, is pleased the results although the group does not back candidates themselves.

Million dollar bond for alleged road rage killer

Bail is set at $1 million cash for a Janesville man charged with first degree intentional homicide. 44-year-old James Humphrey is accused of riding his motorcycle up to a Jeep Friday night and shooting inside after exchanging words with the occupants. 30-year-old Sam Aegerter was killed in the incident.

Early response good for BadgerCare Plus Basic

Sign-ups started June 1st for the BadgerCare Plus Basic program, which is designed to help provide a basic level of coverage to those on the waiting list for the BadgerCare Plus Core plan.

So far, state Health Secretary Karen Timberlake says about 350 people have applied. She says the response has been steady and consistent, with many people happy to have another option while they remain on the waiting list for the Core plan. [Read more...]
